| Bio: | Welcome to my tea party! My name is Jai, and I am proud to be the guardian of Miranda Katherine, my little lolita girl. Miranda is from Angel Region, a Korean-based company that creates beautiful Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD) for adoption. She is of the Fair Line (she stands 58cm tall), and her mold name is Diana-Pride. So why did I create a journal for a doll? Since Miranda arrived at my home on 28 July 2006, she has been a very important part of my life. For my 19th birthday, my friends and family bound together to help me pay for her and bring her to me. I fell in love with her the moment I stumbled across the website. I used to be one of those kids who thought that "dollfies" (as I only knew them then) were a dumb waste of money, and that the girls who insisted upon carrying them to conventions were silly. However, when I found Miranda, I litereally did a double take -- she shared the face of my family. Her eyes and the shape of her face were very reminiscient of that of my great-grandmother, and I knew that I had to have her. Miranda, to me, is more than just a doll. For me, she is a reconnection with the past. She brings me back to a time when girls were girls, decked out in frills and lace, wearing dainty hats and white buttoned gloves, toting their exquisitely dressed dolls everywhere with them. Tea parties happened every afternoon, and tea sandwiches and petit-fours were more than just food - they were art. Life was extravagant and beautiful. Since I made the decision to cross into the gothic lolita culture, I have reconnected to being a girl and reminding the world of a simpler age as things today take off beyond our reach. That's why I have Miranda. This journal, named Green Tea Cake, is a log for me to discuss Miranda and my gothic lolita lifestyle -- everything from new clothing to photos, to essays to thoughts. I chose the name of this journal for a few reasons: first of all, green tea cake is one of my favourite sweets. (For those of you who have not had it, it is a light cake -- almost like angel food cake -- with green tea flavouring. The "frosting" is usually a light, buttery frosting that isn't too sweet. It is delicious!!) I also liked the fact that it represented a far eastern tradition while still being a crucial part of a Western-Victorian tea party. | ||||
